Rethinking Oflog

An opportunity exists to rethink what a sustainable and purpose-led assurance framework for local government might be that uses the capability and capacity that exists across the sector, says executive director for corporate services at Camden LBC, Jon Rowney.

The Government has announced its intention to pause the Office for Local Government's (Oflog) programme of ‘early warning conversations' and review its role to ‘ensure it will add the greatest possible value'.

This coincides with the Government publishing its plans for a series of audit backstops with the likelihood of unaudited accounts across the sector.
