Reforming the electoral system to allow more council officers to stand for election could help tackle the lack of diversity among members, a leading think-tank has claimed.

Speaking to The MJ, Local Government Information Unit (LGiU) policy manager, Laura Wilkes, welcomed plans by the Electoral Commission to make it easier for council staff to stand for election in their authority area.
