It's time to rewrite the social contract

There are tools to address the challenges facing public services without big spending commitments. Tess Godley calls for more social outcomes contracts

The UK has gone to the polls, and the new Government knows it will face some unique challenges in delivering public services. The Institute for Fiscal Studies noted current spending plans of the major parties ‘could be described as unrealistically tight'.

The good news is there are tools at a government's disposal which get to the heart of this conundrum. Last month, the UK's leading social impact investor, Better Society Capital, published independent research on one tool suitable for tackling complex, entrenched issues, including child poverty and homelessness.
