On the road to improvement

Northumberland Council’s peer review, following a hard-hitting review of governance, shows the local authority has come a very long way in a short time, says Helen Paterson.

There has been much talk about peer challenge as our sector reflects and responds to the emerging Oflog framework, rising demand and big financial challenges. I'm sure you've noticed.

‘Beefed-up' seems to be the phrase of the moment. With that in mind, colleagues might be forgiven for eschewing peer challenge or for not having ‘request peer challenge soon' at the top of Monday's to-do list.
