The chief executive of Birmingham City Council has hit back at Ofsted head Sir Michael Wilshaw after he suggested breaking up the city's education authority.

Mark Rogers accused Sir Michael of ‘overstepping the mark' and making ‘ill-considered and careless remarks about Birmingham' in an appearance as part of the education committee's inquiry into the alleged Trojan Horse extremism plot.
