Rotherham MBC is considering plans to boost the chief executive's salary to up to £200,000 in order to attract the best candidate to the borough whose reputation was blighted by the child grooming scandal.
Suggestions to offer a market supplement of up to 25% on top of the existing £160,000 annual wage for the chief executive role were contained in the pay policy statement for 2015/16.
Following the centrally imposed intervention a number of senior managers have left Rotherham and interim arrangements have been put in place to ensure the council delivers its statutory duties.
