Royal Mail has won a two-year contract to collect and deliver post for 14 local authorities across the capital.

The London boroughs include Barnet, Brent and Tower Hamlets, and under the agreement Royal Mail will collect and deliver council documents, such as tax letters and polling cards.

Royal Mail will also offer a ‘hybrid service' to the boroughs, which will allow councils to save money by centrally printing and then posting letters to residents.

‘This contract is great news for Royal Mail and for our employees,' said head of elections and local government, Rachel Winham. ‘We look forward to working closely with the councils over the course of the contract and providing them with an excellent service.'
