Rural local authorities have warned prime minister David Cameron that further cuts will ‘threaten the long-term viability of many communities'.

The Rural Services Network, which includes 125 councils as members, claims the local government finance settlement would lead to towns and cities receiving £153 more funding per resident than rural authorities.
