Salford Council claims £1bn boost from BBC relocation

Salford City council chiefs boast of the BBC's decision to relocate staff to the MediaCity complex has given the local economy a boost.

Salford City council chiefs have boasted the BBC's decision to relocate staff and activities to the MediaCity complex has given the local economy a £1bn boost.

The claims follow a report by spending watchdog the National Audit Office, which found the relocation of BBC's sport and children's functions and some 1,500 roles, was delivered on time and within its projected £233m budget.
