Jo Miller is quite something. The chief executive of Doncaster MBC has just been announced as the new president of Society of Local Authority Chief Executives and Senior Managers (SOLACE), after an election which saw her stand against Luton chief Trevor Holden.

She tells The MJ the election was ‘nerve wracking' and she would rather be a returning officer than a candidate any day. ‘Hats off to all those people who put themselves up for election – I have a new found admiration for politicians beyond that which was there,' she says.
