School funding outlined

Ministers announce local authorities will be required to allocate at least 80% of their delegated schools block funding for local pupils.

Local authorities will be required to allocate at least 80% of their delegated schools block funding on the basis of the needs of pupils in local areas from 2014/15, ministers have announced.

In a statement issued on 4 June, schools minister David Laws outlined further steps to maintain progress towards a national funding formula, which the coalition intends to take effect from the next Spending Review period.
