London Councils has warned Government funding proposals for academies and free schools will slash local authorities education budgets to the detriment of maintained schools.

Responding to the Department for Education's consultation, the umbrella group representing all London's 33 boroughs claims official estimates for Academies Funding Transfer for the next two years 'are inaccurate as they are not based on clearly demonstrable savings to local authorities'.
