Councils in Scotland could be given more powers to force the sale of empty homes, the Scottish Government has indicated.

Councils in Scotland could be given more powers to force the sale of empty homes, as part of plans to tackle the 'scar' of vacant properties, the Scottish Government has indicated.

Scotland's housing minister, Keith Brown, has revealed the Government is in talks with Shelter Scotland and the Scottish Empty Homes Partnership to develop proposals to lower vacant property numbers – estimated at 25,000 long-term empty homes across the country.
