The Scottish Government has paved the way for Scotland to follow Wales in refusing to recommend consent for the UK Elections Bill.

Scotland's Deputy First Minister John Sweeney lodged a legislation consent memorandum in the Scottish Parliament last week recommending Holyrood refuses consent to the legislation, noting: ‘The Scottish Government considers that there is no evidence of significant electoral fraud to justify voter ID measures in Scotland'
