Scotland first minister emphasises need for collaboration with councils

Scotland's first minister John Swinney has emphasised the need for collaboration between his government and the country's councils.

Speaking to the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities' (COSLA) conference in Perthshire, Swinney praised the early achievements of the Verity House Agreement – the collaboration accord between the Scottish government and councils – including moves to improve care and safeguarding for vulnerable people and delivering a pay increase for social workers.
