Local authorities in Scotland have spent £3m more than originally predicted last year to mitigate the impact of the bedroom tax.

Figures released by the Scottish Government show that councils spent £50.5m on discretionary housing payments to top up benefits, which had been cut by the spare room subsidy in 2014/15.
