Scots show they care with special accolades for services

The quest for Scotland's social services worthy of an 'oscar' have begun. 

The Care Accolades 2007 was launched last Friday by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) with statutory, voluntary and private sectors in social services and children's services invited to enter.
SSSC convenor, Morag Alexander, said: 'The 2007 award ceremony will be another opportunity for people in the private, public and voluntary social service sector to be rewarded for some of the superb and innovative work they do every day, delivering some of the most important services to people in our community.'
Among those at the launch last Friday were 2006 overall winners Aberlour Childcare Trust refuge team from Glasgow which offers a refuge service for young runaways. Those wishing to enter should go to
