Scots tensions over tax-raising powers

Tensions between Whitehall and Holyrood on the extent of devolved tax-raising powers arise before the Scotland Bill Committee.

Tensions between Whitehall and Holyrood over the extent of devolved tax-raising powers have been exposed before the Scotland Bill Committee.

Addressing the committee on a range of issues raised by implementation of the Bill, Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, David Gauke last week accused the Scottish Government of being focused too much on requesting additional powers over corporation tax rather than implementing existing ones such as stamp duty, land and landfill tax.
