Highland Council expects to have debts of more than £1bn within the next two years, according to the local authority’s latest financial figures.

Highland Council expects to have debts of more than £1bn within the next two years, according to the local authority's latest financial figures.

According to a report that will go before full council tomorrow, the authority's total gross borrowing will reach £899m in 2017/18 and rise even further to £1bn once other liabilities, including public-private partnership payments are taken into account.
