SDLP leads call for NI parish councils

The SDLP in Northern Ireland,is demanding a new system of community parish councils for the devolved nation.

The Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP) in Northern Ireland, is demanding a new system of community parish councils for the devolved nation, to make local government reform more manageable.

The call follows the Northern Ireland executive's commitment to slash the number of local councils from 26 to 11 by 2015, under its programme for government.
