Pop star Alanis Morissette once infamously listed a number of examples of irony in a song that, ironically, critics suggested were not instances of irony.

Almost 25 years too late, thanks to a bemused local government source, Diary can put forward a solid case of irony that would have put Ms Morissette on firmer ground.
