Charity bosses have warned that new Government guidelines on how councils can protect third sector groups from disproportionate cuts must not be a ‘tick-box exercise'.

Communities secretary Eric Pickles published the guidelines last week, after warning in March that he would not tolerate ‘unreasonable cuts' to the third sector.
