The leader of Coventry City Council has written to communities secretary, Eric Pickles, demanding the Government pays the £130,000 bill.

The leader of Coventry City Council has written to communities secretary, Eric Pickles, demanding the Government pays the £130,000 bill for the city's referendum on an elected mayor in May.

Council leader, John Mutton, whose Labour group has long opposed elected mayors, called the vote ‘unwanted'.
