Commons select committee chair, Clive Betts has written to the government demanding it ‘comes clean' over complaints from private sector suppliers that they cannot meet the deadline for the new benefits system.

Mr Betts, chair of the CLG select committee, has written to local government minister Bob Neill asking whether the deadline for implementing council tax benefit (CTB) reforms from April 2013 can be met.
