Sell us empty homes, say landlords

A group of private sector landlords has called on councils to auction off empty social homes to bring them back into the housing market.

A group of private sector landlords has called on councils to auction off empty social homes to bring them back into the housing market.

The Residential Landlords Association (RLA) claimed there were 75,000 empty homes throughout the UK, including 27,909 which were local authority-owned. More than 41,000 were owned by housing associations, and a further 5,264 owned by other public organisations.
