Senior Assistant Director, Community Safety and Environment at Greenwich

Home to around a quarter of a million people, Greenwich is a place of international significance. Its rich maritime history and tourist sites make it an appealing destination for visitors, whilst its location and attractiveness as a place to live mean that it is growing fast. It's also the fi rst Royal Borough in over 70 years and was one of the Olympic host boroughs.

Successfully staging three major Olympic events reinforced the importance of public realm to the future success of Greenwich. The quality of the environment is also a high priority for residents, although the difficult financial climate means that living up to high expectations presents considerable challenges.

This role is at the heart of that challenge. Responsible for around 800 staff and a budget of £35m, you will lead a service that includes waste collection and disposal, street cleansing and parks and open spaces. We are finding innovative and joined up ways to deliver outstanding customer-orientated services and you will be able to blend strategic thinking with high quality leadership and management. Our Elected Members will be looking for advice that is unconstrained by traditional thinking but is also grounded by the strong links we have with our communities.
