Senior council officers have called for Growth Deals to go ‘much further' in future after criticising the first round of bidding in a report.

A joint report by the Association of Directors of Environment, Economy, Planning and Transport and Chief Economic Development Officers' Society – seen exclusively by The MJ – argued that the 2015/16 deals announced in July offered ‘little by way of genuine devolution of powers or influence'.
