'Set DCLG free' to tackle homelessness

Lord Gary Porter has called for the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) to be ‘set free' from the Treasury to tackle homelessness.

The Local Government Association chairman told the House of Lords the Government needed to ‘take a completely different tack' on tackling homelessness by working closely with councils and ensuring ‘attention to detail' was not ‘driven by people from the Treasury'.
