As UKIP shakes up the local landscape, Paul Wheeler ponders their next move and the implications for the other political parties.

Just when you thought local politics was becoming predictable, along comes the UK Independence Party to shake it all up.

It was the received wisdom that they were a single issue party with no traction for local politics. With over 20% of the vote, and 150 county councillors, we now know differently.
