Housing minister Grant Shapps has called on councils to stop the 'horrible hoarding' of public land so that it can be freed up for house-building.

Speaking to cross-party group of MPs on 30 January, Mr Shapps said he wanted more homes built on public land and, as minister, had made clear to authorities that land assets should be put to use rather than stockpiled.
