Housing minister Grant Shapps has announced a £535,000 scheme to train social housing tenants in community leadership skills in a bid to resolve local issues following August's riots.

Chester-based charity The National Communities Resource Centre (NCRC) received the award from DCLG to deliver a programme giving at least 1,500 people support in developing the skills and confidence to sit on 'tenant panels.'
