Shapps targets high earners in social housing

Councils to be given new powers increase social housing rents if tenants earn more than £100,000.

Councils will be given new powers to increase social housing rents if tenants earn more than £100,000, housing minister Grant Shapps has announced.

Ministers predict the move could affect up to 6,000 people, and could raise £56m to help fund house building, The Times report.
