Sharing some lessons learned

Barnet LBC fell under the glare of the national spotlight this year because of its outsourcing plans. Chief executive Andrew Travers outlines the lessons learned from the experience of how to become a commissioning council

Over the past year Barnet Council has changed dramatically, two major contracts with Capita, one to outsource our back office services the second to set up a joint venture to cover develop and regulatory services, have been signed, implemented and published on-line.

Taken together they are worth £165m to the council over the next decade.
