Children's services face a huge hike in costs as latest figures show a record number of children being taken into local authority care.

Children's services face a huge hike in costs as latest figures show a record number of children being taken into local authority care.

The latest figures from Cafcass, the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service, show care applications between April 2011 and March 2012 were 10.8% higher than the year before at 10,199.
