Sheffield blames austerity for planning proposals

Sheffield City Council has blamed austerity for proposals to cut the number of officers in its planning department.

The Victorian Society charity, which campaigns for Victorian and Edwardian architecture, said the council intended to cut up to 40 jobs but Sheffield insisted it had not tabled a figure for the number of roles that could be scrapped.
