Sheffield loans £3m to its housing company to tackle council housing crisis

Sheffield City Council has decided to loan £3m to its own housebuilding company to build 1,000 new council homes.

Sheffield City Council has decided to loan £3m to its own housebuilding company to build 1,000 new council homes.

The project will be overseen by the Sheffield Housing Company, which was set up by the council in 2011 in partnership with housebuilder Keepmoat and housing association Great Places and has so far delivered 400 new homes.
