Shifting the dial on diversity

Brighton & Hove City Council has made huge progress on inclusion, but the work isn’t finished yet, says Jess Gibbons

It is fundamental to me our council has an authentic commitment to inclusion. Brighton & Hove is a city that is so welcoming and inclusive that if you don't feel you fit elsewhere, you will find your fit here. We are a City of Sanctuary where everyone is welcome and can thrive. We want to be a council that reflects our city.

We are proud of the changes we have made in the diversity of our workforce, including a reduction in the gender pay gap. The national average gender pay gap is a 13.1% gap in favour of men; our median gender pay gap is 3% in favour of women; women also make up 62.7% of staff in our upper pay bands.
