Shoreham Airport deal set for take-off

The Erinaceous Group Plc looks set to take over Shoreham Airport from Brighton and Hove City Council and Worthing BC by this end of the month. T

he West Sussex airport is the oldest working airfield in the country, and the two councils appointed the Erinaceous Group as private sector partner last year. Airport manager, John Haffenden, said the takeover was on track to be completed by the beginning of April. ‘The new organisation is excited about the economic regeneration of the airport. It will be good, not only for the airport, but also for the surrounding area,' he said. Mr Haffenden added that all the airport's 27 existing staff would be transferred to the new owner, and there would be no redundancies. Negotiations are still ongoing, but the airport is expected to fetch between £7m and £9m.
