The closure of a coal-fired power station is expected to cost Cannock Chase DC around a £1m a year in lost business rates, according to its finance chief.

The closure of a coal-fired power station is expected to cost Cannock Chase DC around a £1m a year in lost business rates, according to its finance chief.

ENGIE, the company behind the Rugeley Power Station in Staffordshire, announced plans last week to close the site in the summer after a ‘deterioration in market conditions'.
