Councils have been urged to lobby transport minister Norman Baker over the wider roll-out of 20 miles per hour transport zones in local areas.
The lobby group 20's Plenty For Us wants local authorities to write to the Government demanding new, lower limits on the number of repeater signs required locally to inform residents of the lower speed limit. They claim the cost of new signage is preventing many councils from changing to 20mph zones from the current norm of 30mph.
