A new ‘three block’ system of funding local government has been mooted by a group of urban authorities in the run up to the Spending Review.

A new ‘three block' system of funding local government has been mooted by a group of urban authorities in the run up to the Spending Review.

The Special Interest Group of Municipal Authorities (SIGOMA) has launched its proposal to simplify council funding, while making it fairer than the current system. It has also claimed the new funding system could be decided by an independent body.
