The local government minister has pledged to make the procurement process faster and less bureaucratic as business bosses illustrate how councils can improve the process.

Speaking in the House of Commons last week, Marcus Jones said Whitehall was committed to working with the Local Government Association to identify ways of removing ‘excessive burdens' on small businesses bidding for council contracts.
