Single ombudsman could cover housing and education

Plans to modernise rights of redress for citizens through the establishment of a single Ombudsman to handle complaints could extend to embrace key service areas of housing and education, the Local Government Ombudsman has claimed.

Plans to modernise rights of redress for citizens through the establishment of a single Ombudsman to handle complaints could extend to embrace key service areas of housing and education, the Local Government Ombudsman has claimed.

The comments follow the inclusion in last week's Queen's Speech of proposals for a draft Public Service Ombudsman Bill – which would merge the Local Government Ombudsman with the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO).
