Sir Bob defends councils' financial accountability

Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) permanent secretary Sir Bob Kerslake this week defended the financial accountability of local authorities in front of an influential Parliamentary spending watchdog.

Giving evidence to the House of Commons' public accounts committee (PAC) on Monday, Sir Bob said investment in the local accountability system should have assuaged MPs concerns over value for money.
