Sir Merrick steps down from Kensington & Chelsea

Former chairman of the Local Government Association and London Councils, Sir Merrick Cockell, is stepping down as a councillor after nearly 30 years.

Former chairman of the Local Government Association (LGA) and London Councils, Sir Merrick Cockell, is stepping down as a councillor after nearly 30 years.

Sir Merrick, knighted in 2010, served on Kensington & Chelsea RLBC, including 13 years as leader of the council.
