As the poorest funded unitary authority, we have had to look for new and innovative ways to reduce costs for our council taxpayers. When we embarked on our 'smart working' project, it was just that. Of course, other organisations have introduced principles of remote working and reduced costly office accommodation space, but few have sought to achieve such an aggressive space reduction as two full-time equivalent employees to one desk.
