Local Government Improvement and Development has published a guide for councils, outlining interventions they could use to tackle tobacco-related inequalities.

The guide recognises that ‘every area has a different battle on its hands', if councils, and their health sector partners, are to successfully address problems. But it identifies three broad groups that many councils could target – ‘routine and manual' smokers, ‘young people', and ‘pregnant smokers'.
