Snakes on a plain

Bridgend Council was recently forced to issue a snake warning, after soaring temperatures led to spike in sightings of venomous adders treating south Wales as though it was the New Mexico desert.

Bridgend Council was recently forced to issue a snake warning, after soaring temperatures led to spike in sightings of venomous adders treating south Wales as though it was the New Mexico desert.

Adders and grass-snakes are native to the area, but the blazing sun has led many to bask in the dry grasses and scrublands around the flood plains close to the River Ogmore – leading to several run-ins with inquisitive hounds and local residents.
