Bridgend Council was recently forced to issue a snake warning, after soaring temperatures led to spike in sightings of venomous adders treating south Wales as though it was the New Mexico desert.
Adders and grass-snakes are native to the area, but the blazing sun has led many to bask in the dry grasses and scrublands around the flood plains close to the River Ogmore – leading to several run-ins with inquisitive hounds and local residents.
