Council workers, including bin-men, street sweepers, park rangers and housing officers, have been drafted in to assist in clearing snow and ice, council chiefs have said.

The Local Government Association (LGA) has also reported council officials and volunteers are using personal-use 4x4s in shires such as Warwickshire CC to assist the vulnerable.
