SNP vows to stop 'unnecessary' expenses

Scotland's finance secretary, John Swinney, has vowed to end a controversial system through which Glasgow City Council members have pocketed ‘unnecessary' payments of £260,000.

Holyrood's Scottish local authority remuneration committee has reported that councillors in Glasgow claimed £260,000 between them to sit on the boards of arm's length external organisations (ALEOs).
